Georges St-Pierre is considered one of the greatest fighters to ever step foot inside the octagon. He has fought and defeated some of the best that UFC had to offer and proved his mettle after becoming a double champion in Dana White‘s promotion. However, Jore Rogan recently mentioned that today’s welterweight fighters on the UFC roster would defeat GSP, including Jorge Masvidal. Former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub discussed this statement in a video on his YouTube channel.
Joe Rogan is known to make some wild claims in his podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’. However, this time he believes Georges St-Pierre won’t be able to win in a fight against a fighter like Jorge Masvidal. Let us look at what he had to say.

Singer-songwriter Luke Combs joined Joe Rogan in the #1956 episode of JRE. They brought up the topic of the state of the current welterweights on the UFC roster. He claims that Jorge Masvidal is on the same level as Georges St-Pierre. He said, “If Masvidal was around that time, he’d be dangerous for everybody. I think he’s on another level. But I think everyone is on another level.” (2:24:58)

Joe Rogan mentions that Masvidal knocking out Ben Askren was one of the most innovative moves he’s ever witnessed. “He’s a f****** assassin,” said the 55-year-old podcaster. Moreover, these comments were noticed by Brendan Schaub as he addressed these claims in a recent video on the ‘Thiccc Boy’ YouTube channel.
Brendan Schaub reacts to Rogan’s comparison of GSP with ‘Gamebred’
The former UFC fighter-turned-comedian believes that some aspects of the statements made by Joe Rogan are true. He said, “His statement’s partly true.” Schaub added, “Certain fighters [in the UFC], they are training in MMA specifically and they’re f****** talented.” He goes on to mention that at the time when St-Pierre was fighting opponents, they were very limited in how they approached the fight. “When GSP was fighting, he’s fighting very one-dimensional fighters and there’s a way to expose those guys.”

He adds that the sport of MMA is relatively new compared to other combat sports. So it’s not GSP’s or any other fighter’s fault. Schaub states that the sport has grown since then. He said, “The game evolves, the science evolves, the fighters evolve. They’re better athletes. GSP wasn’t fighting the same athletes that the guys are today.”
Joe Rogan always hailed Georges St-Pierre as the greatest UFC fighter ever. But he changed his opinion after Jon Jones‘ amazing performance at UFC 285. Although Brendan Schaub believes part of Rogan’s statement is true, he doesn’t think Masvidal is the perfect example for comparison since both GSP and ‘Gamebred’ started MMA around the same time.
