UFC Bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley won his last fight against former bantamweight champion Petr Yan at UFC 280. However, the entire UFC world debated whether ‘Sugar’ actually deserved to win, or the referees gave him a handout. Many disrespected him to take an undeserved victory. Despite the criticism, O’Malley rose to the top of the UFC bantamweight rankings. Even more recently, O’Malley faced another Russian opponent, Ramzan Kadyrov. After, The American declined an invitation from Kadyrov to attend his son’s birthday party. And in doing so, he even declined the insane amount of money that came with it.

Sean O’Malley didn’t comply with the Russian request
The 28-year-old from Montana stood his ground firmly against Russian dictator Ramzan Kadyrov. He wanted to accommodate O’Malley and fellow UFC fighters Kamaru Usman, Justin Gaethje, and Henry Cejudo in Chechnya, Russia. The UFC bantamweight contender ripped the band-aid from this political issue in a recent podcast episode.

However, things did not go fully according to Kadyrov’s plan. As O’Malley declined his invite after he consulted a close friend. The boy from Montana instinctually felt this would be a dangerous move at this point in his career.
