Conor McGregor will not be contending for a UFC championship anytime soon. Coming off a two-fight losing streak, and having lost three out of the last four, the Irishman will be looking to make a statement against Michael Chandler in their welterweight bout. The duo are head coaches on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter and were slated for a matchup in December.

However, it seems ‘Notorious’ might skip Chandler altogether and may have his eyes on the BMF title. This prompted a response from the manager of Khabib Nurmagomedov, Islam Makhachev, and Kamaru Usman on Twitter.

The Dubliner took to Twitter following Justin Gaethje‘s victory over Dustin Poirier for the BMF belt at UFC 291 and claimed he was the real BMF and challenged Gaethje to call out Conor. He also suggested he might pass over Chandler in the tweet. I’m the real bmf, he can fight for pennies if he wants but I want spirits, I call the shots, I’m in it to launch shots, f*** chandler, you want it call for it.” he tweeted.

UFC manager extraordinaire, Ali Abdelaziz, who is not a McGregor fan, to say the least, quote tweeted to the former champion with some bitter advice. “Stop use other people work to keep yourself relevant b****,” he wrote.

Abdelaziz seems to have been taking a shot at Conor’s inability to contend for a real title, forcing him to go after Gaethje’s BMF title to generate more excitement for his return. But when is McGregor returning?

Conor McGregor’s comeback to the UFC after two years out of the cage

Conor McGregor’s bout with Chandler in December, after a two-year hiatus for the Irishman, is in serious doubt. USADA rules require a fighter to enter its testing pool at least six months before being eligible to fight in the UFC. According to multiple reports, the whiskey baron has not yet entered the pool. The UFC may choose to exempt the 35-year-old from the six-month rule, but what happens to ‘Notorious’s comeback bout is unclear at the moment.

In another heel turn, it seems McGregor may forego rival TUF coach Chandler for the BMF winner Gaethje. It would be a shame if Chandler did not get an opportunity to avenge McGregor’s two-hand shove to Chandler on the sets of TUF 31. And, most importantly, it would upset the fans. What do you think about Conor McGregor’s call out of Justin Gaethje? Do you think McGregor should fight Gaethje in his comeback instead of Chandler? Let us know in the comment section below.
