WWE superstars Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins recently secured an alliance to stop Roman Reigns and The Rock en route to WrestleMania XL. And fans were waiting for the duo to feature at the special edition of The Grayson Waller Effect on Elimination Chamber 2024. After much anticipation, the segment finally happened and it sure was a memorable one.

While it was supposed to answer all questions regarding the plans of the duo for WrestleMania 40, it did leave a major question behind at the end. After a lengthy but applauded entrance from both men, The American Nightmare and The Visionary were interviewed about their future in The Showcase of Immortals.

Both showcased their confidence heading into their respective headline matchups. In the segment, Cody Rhodes said it’s time for a new face to carry the nickname ‘The Peoples Champ’, and recalled the slap The Rock gave him in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. And while continuing to deliver his promo, he almost revealed the conversation backstage that led The Rock to replace Cody Rhodes as Roman Reign’s opponent in the first place. He said, “The Rock wouldn’t wanna talk about the conversation that we had that led us to this point. Why I stepped out of the WrestleMania main event, just to step right back in”

On the other hand, Seth Rollins confirmed that his medical clearance to compete was just around the corner, and promised a fight to whoever comes out of Elimination Chamber with the title opportunity. With reasons in mind, Cody surprised the audience with a challenge to face The Rock “anytime, anywhere.”

Seth stopped him briefly to ensure that it was time to unite in order to “cut off the head of the snake” and stop The Bloodline once and for all. Austin Theory’s arrogance allowed the segment to come to a close with him receiving the final attacks of Rollins and Rhodes.

Since Rhodes’ shocking return to WWE in 2022, he’s been adamant about “finishing the story” started by his father, Dusty, who famously never held the WWE championship. Many expected Cody to defeat Reigns at last year’s WrestleMania and were shocked when Reigns pulled off the win.

But WWE kept building Cody’s story. The company purposefully kept him away from Seth Rollins’ newly created WWE World Heavyweight Championship and then booked him to win the 2024 Royal Rumble. When Rhodes won the Rumble, he immediately pointed at Reigns and started jawing at him. When WWE announced the cover athletes for WWE 2K24, Rhodes was a main part of the advertising campaign.

WWE Rumors: Cody Rhodes Nearly Missed WrestleMania 40 Main Event Due to “Injury” & Dwayne The Rock Johnson’s Return

A few weeks ago The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes made a surprising announcement that he won’t be going up against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Instead, he hinted that there’s someone out there who knows Roman Reigns even better than he does.

The Rock and Roman Reigns face-to-face

The road to WrestleMania 40 kicked off with a bang. The crowd went into a frenzy when the arena was rocked by The Rock’s music. The Brahma Bull made his entry into the ring and shook hands with Cody Rhodes before hugging him. Rhodes then exited the ring and left the cousins alone in the squared circle for the first time since Roman Reigns became the Tribal Chief.

Roman Reigns and The Rock locked eyes with intense. Without uttering a word, Roman Reigns proudly hoisted his WWE Undisputed Championship high above his head, a powerful symbol of his status as the new face of both his family and the WWE. It’s only speculation right now, the cousins may face off against each other, only time will reveal.
