We know WWE for putting on the best shows for the audience. The company has given us many greatest matches that we can have a memory to live up to. But the WWE managed to pull chords for one such most fantastic game of all time as they knew; no other WWE superstar would have done magic like this.

Hollywood Hulk Hogan and The Rock locked horns at WrestleMania 18. This match is very famously known as “Icon vs. Icon” as The Great One, and The Immortal One threw an incredible match card for the WWE Universe.

This WrestleMania took place at SkyDome in Toronto on March 17, 2002. The Toronto crowd absolutely drew a massive pop as the two icons of different generations battled inside the ring.

Why did WWE drag The Rock and Hulk Hogan from the main event of WrestleMania 18?

WWE Executive Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson, on the latest episode of ‘Something To Wrestle,’ went 20 years ago to revisit WrestleMania 18. Bruce Prichard mentioned that WWE did not find any reason for The Rock and Hulk Hogan to the main event at WrestleMania 18.

Bruce Prichard said, “No, there was devouring consideration for this to close the show. It was an excellent attraction, and it was one of those once-in-a-lifetime events that was going to be a huge moment at WrestleMania. But I don’t think that anyone thought that it was going to close, no!”

WWE deprived the main event spot for The Rock and Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 18 because the WWE knew it was a big match. No matter where the “Icon vs. Icon” match was on WrestleMania 18 card, WWE knew they will do wonders inside the ring.

Which fight was the main event of WrestleMania 18 and did it work for them?

For those who don’t know, Triple H and Chris Jericho closed the Biggest Show of the Year in 2002. Chris Jericho was set to defend his Undisputed WWF Championship. However, Triple H defeated Jericho to win the WWF Championship.

Even when you look at the promotional poster of WrestleMania 18, it did not have Triple H and Jericho as featured. Instead, The Hulkster and The Brahma Bull were on the billboard poster of WrestleMania 18. Despite not being at the main event of WrestleMania 18, Hulk Hogan and The Rock stole the show.

The main attraction of the WrestleMania 18 is known for “Icon vs. Icon” between The Rock and Hulk Hogan. For generations of fans of different eras, they all have their moment about 2002’s WrestleMania.

At one of the greatest matches of all time, The Rock defeated his idol Hulk Hogan with a massive Rock Bottom. Although, the two icons shook hands with respect after the match.
