After months of speculation, WWE in early April announced its sale to UFC parent company Endeavor. Through this new deal, the pro-wrestling and MMA giant will merge to form a unified company with a total valuation worth over $21 billion. As news spread, many experts shared their views. Now, former WWE superstar John Morrison has made a worrying prediction about Vince McMahon’s company that might prove to be a silver lining for rival AEW.

John Morrison predicts job, salary cuts in WWE

Morrison, 43, was released from the WWE in November 2021. He is now a free agent. The pro-wrestler recently appeared on The MMA Hour With Ariel Helwani and spoke about a variety of topics. While discussing the UFC-WWE merger, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion sounded the alarm.

“I think there’s a hiring freeze right now. I think they’re going to end up letting a bunch of guys go. I think salaries are going to get cut,” Morrison said.

However, he praised the rival All Elite Wrestling for stepping up and allowing performers to have the option to choose from. “I’m really glad AEW is around to balance that out a little bit, because if they weren’t, there would be no leverage, and nowhere else to go,” he said.

The former WWE Tag Team Champion said if there was no AEW, the merger would “be this weird monopoly” that “wrings the money out of the livelihood of the fighters and wrestlers”.

Morrison, who is known for his in-ring acrobatics, hit the headlines a few days ago for a different reason.

He took a dig at current WWE superstar Logan Paul and his brother, Jake, while calling out KSI. “When I’m thinking about who to call out, Jake? Logan? No, Jake got beat, Logan got beat by KSI, which is why I’m going to put KSI on blast right now,” he said.
