John Cena enjoyed a second lease on life in the WWE between September and November 2023. He served as a bridge to the growth of several superstars and fought in several renowned events, such as Fastlane or Crown Jewel. Since then, the former WWE champion has returned to focus on his career in Hollywood, although we cannot rule out the prospect of seeing him again in WWE soon.

Dave Meltzer, journalist for Wrestling Observer, wrote in his newsletter about John Cena’s situation ahead of WrestleMania XL. According to Meltzer, WWE has told him that Cena will not participate in any matches, despite it being a very special edition of the great event. But a fight would basically depend on his acting schedule and whether anything fruitful is going on. So there’s a possibility that the WWE might try to capitalize on his fame by making him a host of the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’. Having Cena as a host would also bring in a lot of attention and revenue.

The babyfaces team up

Imagine having Roman Reigns, John Cena, Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, and The Rock fighting inside a ring in an all-out brawl. As a fan, are you drooling already? Considering that WrestleMania is the biggest event in sports entertainment, it is a possibility that the WWE might convince the 16x World Champion to be a part of the biggest feud of the night.

As per the Rock’s stipulation for night one, if he and Reigns win the tag team match, then The Bloodline would help Reigns against Rhodes on night 2. So maybe we will get to see John Cena helping out the ‘American Nightmare’. Seth Rollins can help tackle Sikoa, Jey Uso helps fight off Jimmy Uso and John Cena handles the Rock. Now that would be an exciting watch! But this is still a speculation.

Cena returned to WWE full-time in September and October, taking advantage of the Hollywood actors’ and screenwriters’ strike, a leave he expressly requested from the Screen Actors Guild. It seemed that the strike was going to extend much further, so the wrestler and WWE began to make possible plans for the future, even thinking about Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. However, the strike ended and plans changed.
