“Already Proven He Is Worthy”: Dubai Duty Tennis Championships’ CEO on Dominic Thiem

World No. 4 Dominic Thiem is one of the most promising players on the men’s Tour. The Austrian talent has transformed himself to a superior level and caused disturbances for the ‘big 3’ in recent years. From the current lot of the new geniuses, Dominic broke the barrier by winning the US Open last year.
After the Australian Open this season, Dominic will be next seen at the Dubai Duty Tennis Championships 2021. Recently, the CEO of the tournament praised the US Open champion and highlighted his performances in the last couple of seasons.
He went on to compliment Thiem and compared him with other great tennis players from Austria.

Dubai Duty-Free CEO: “Dominic Thiem’s results in the past two seasons is spectacular”
The Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Duty Tennis Championships 2021, Colm McLoughlin, stated, “Dominic Thiem has already proven that he is worthy to be named alongside Thomas Muster as one of the greatest tennis players that Austria has produced. His results, particularly over the past two seasons, have often been spectacular, and we very much look forward to welcoming him back to Dubai,”
If Dominic wins the tournament in Dubai, he will be the first Austrian player to achieve that feat after Thomas Muster. Looking into this year’s event, fan-favorite Roger Federer is expected to headline the tournament. Having won the competition eight times, Federer will start as a strong favorite.

Other young emerging players like Andrey Rublev and Italian tennis player Matteo Berrettini will be seen in action too. 2016 champion Stan Wawrinka and the 2018 winner Roberto Bautista Agut have also confirmed their participation in this year’s edition.
Looking back at the start of this season, Dominic lost in the fourth-round to Grigor Dimitrov. Prior to that, he beat homeboy Nick Kyrgios in a five-set epic thriller. He won the match after being two sets down and dealt with the pressures of a biased crowd.
