Tennis players are presently bidding their time in quarantine in the Australian Open 2021 bubble. Only a lucky few are training outside their room for 5 hours every day. Now, Wolfgang Thiem, father-coach of Dominic Thiem, has revealed how training sessions are managed in Adelaide.

Along with his father, training partner, and staff, the Austrian ace is quarantining in the Adelaide bubble. Additionally, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are present there with their teams. Apart from them, every other ATP player is in the Melbourne Park bubble.

Thus, the 5-hour training duration takes place in 3 different sessions on a given day. The time is actually 20 minutes less, claims the senior Thiem.

The sports’ experts even regard the US Open champion as the player who will dethrone the Big three of tennis. Thiem is the only player after Andy Murray to defeat Roger Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic at least 5 times each.

Therefore, one can expect him to go big at the year’s first major tournament. However, his season will start at the ATP Cup 2021 before he begins the ‘Australian Open 2021’ hunt.

Scheduled to begin from 1 February, Team Austria will face Team Italy and Team France in the round-robin stage. This means Dominic will face World No. 10 and 11 Matteo Berrettini and Gael Monfils, respectively.

Notably, Wolfgang Thiem will captain Team Austria in the teams-nations tournament. Since Thiem’s main coach Nicolas Massu did not travel after testing positive, the Austrian’s chances have slightly diminished.
