Being an athlete is one of the highest-paying jobs in the world. Athletes who have established their name in the sporting world earn exorbitant amounts of money for their talents and skills. As such, boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has earned billionaire status for his mastery of the sport of boxing.

However, he does not rank the highest when it comes to being the richest sporting personality in the world.

Who is the richest sports personality of all time?

The man that has earned the most money in his sporting career is the former CEO of the world’s largest professional wrestling company, WWE, Vince McMahon. McMahon revolutionized the sport of wrestling and turned it into an illustrious and lucrative business.

The owner of WWE also appeared as a wrestler in 1999. Additionally, he also made an appearance at the Royal Rumble of the same year where he eliminated Stone Cold Steve Austin in an iconic manner. McMahon is estimated to be worth a whopping $2.5 billion. Following the WWE legend, in second place is the NBA all-time great Michael Jordan who has a net worth of $2.2 billion.

Furthermore, Olympic medalists, Ion Tiriac, a Romanian ice hockey player, and Anna Kasprzak, a Danish dressage rider, are worth $1.7 billion and $1.4 billion respectively. After all these athletes, comes the boxing legend Floyd Mayweather with an estimated net worth of $1.2 billion.

Finally, at the very deep end of the list is the most decorated NFL player, Tom Brady who has a net worth of $250 million. A hefty sum in general; however, it fails to stand on its own against other richer athletes.

Although the boxing icon didn’t rank the highest on the previous list. Unsurprisingly, there are other athletes who fail to surpass Mayweather. NBA legend LeBron James has an estimated net worth of $600 million. Similarly, the most decorated golfer, Tiger Woods is worth $800 million.

Furthermore, other athletes, like Serena Williams and Michael Phelps have an estimated net worth of $250 million and $100 million, respectively. Additionally, Mayweather’s rival Conor McGregor is worth $200 million.
