Bob Arum gives his opinions on George Kambosos Jr. The Australian recently became the unified lightweight champion when he beat Teofimo Lopez. Kambosos shocked the world as he outboxed Lopez over twelve rounds.

Kambosos put on the performance of his life, standing toe to toe with one of the strongest punchers in the division. The Australian showed his heart, unafraid to challenge Lopez. However, Top Rank Promoter Bob Arum does not think Kambosos did anything special.

Per Michael Benson (h/t FightHype) Arum said: “I don’t think he’s top calibre. He fought a Teofimo Lopez that should’ve been in the hospital, not in the boxing ring.” Kambosos is yet to react to Arum’s comments.

Kambosos is on top of the world right now as he looks for his next opponent. Lopez did not opt for a rematch due to the fact that he plans to take his skills to another division. Now Kambosos will choose his next opponent for his first title defense.

The lightweight division is one of the most star-studded divisions in boxing at the moment. Kambosos will have no trouble finding a worthy opponent to establish himself as a champion.

Perhaps the most interesting fight to make will be to give Vasyl Lomachenko another crack at the titles. Lomachenko lost his titles to Lopez, who denied him a rematch since there was no rematch clause in their fight contract.

Lomachenko can now look to challenge for the belts now that Kambosos is champion.

This is not the first fighter that Bob Arum has discredited so far. A few weeks ago, he also spoke about Tommy Fury.

Bob Arum says he could think of ‘dozens of fighters’ who could beat Tommy Fury

Bob Arum spoke about the Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul fight, back when Fury had not pulled out of the fight. Arum does not think ‘TNT’ is a special fighter. He claimed he could think of at least a dozen fighters who could beat Fury.

“We don’t know if Tommy Fury would ever be an elite boxer. I mean, I could think of dozens of young light-heavyweights who would beat him.”

“So you know, it’s irrelevant to me whether he wins or loses. Because he’s Tyson Fury’s brother, I absolutely hope that he wins. And I wish him the best. But if he loses, he loses.” Arum said.
