Jose Benavidez Jr. has a task cut out for him this weekend. He will meet Jermall Charlo, who will be returning to active boxing after two years’ inactivity. Unlike his brother, Benavidez Jr. doesn’t hold any titles. The last time he made an attempt was against Terence Crawford. It would not be too difficult to gauge the outcome of that fight. Anyhow, in comparison to his upcoming opponent, Jose Benavidez Jr. has been far busier when it comes to the ring.

Even outside the ring, as it appears, he seems to be keeping himself occupied. In ‘Hitman’ he faces a bigger and presumptively much stronger foe. Hence, he is not leaving anything to chance; he has been working out. At least that is what the picture that he shared through an Instagram post early today shows. He said, “It’s fight week, and I’m more than ready. Time to eat.

Time to hit ‘Hitman’!

It didn’t take much time for fans and a few cynics to chime in with their comments. Most sounded optimistic that he would win against Jermall Charlo.

This fan insisted that Jose Benavidez Jr. would have to fight like his brother David Benavidez. More so because the fight is with Jermall Charlo: “Please fight like David in this fight. You gon need to. Charlo especially.” The next follower seemed a bit concerned. They wanted to know if Benavidez Jr. made time to work on his defense and footwork: “Hope you worked on your footwork and defense, bro.” The following user expressed his full confidence in Jose Benavidez Jr.

They believe that Jermall Charlo will be knocked out in the sixth round of the match: “@josebenavidezjr92 Charlo loses by KO Enel sixth round. I have faith in you.” This fan pulled in the September fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo. They wonder why the ‘lion’ from that bout vanished. Where has all the hollering gone? So this time, Jose Benavidez Jr. has to complete the work by knocking out the twin brother: “I never thought Charlo [would] pull that out. We’re the lion? I was wondering: were all the Been loud and making lots [of] noise when for the fight? So now you do the rest. beat the other 1 so they can go home and play [with] the kids.

Finally, though they misspelled Charlo as Charlie, this user wanted to convey the message that the ‘Hitman’ will defeat and humiliate Jose Benavidez Jr.: “Hate to say it, but I think Charlie’s going to beat your a**.

It’s a ten-round, non-title bout. But Jose Benavidez Jr. cannot afford to ignore what a win signifies to him and his brother.

He is 31 years old and hasn’t had any belts for a long time. Hence, it’s high time he turns the tide. Given the limited time and chances of getting big pay days, he needs to start working on his game plan to win. It might help him secure his next fight, a level higher. Then so on and so forth. On the other hand, a defeat might benefit his brother as well. Everyone knows that David Benavidez has been longing to fight Canelo Alvarez.

Now, even though he is the mandatory challenger to the Mexican icon, there is no guarantee that the latter will pick him for the next bout. On September 30, he fought Jermell Charlo. Hence, rumoredly, he could take on the twin, Jermall Charlo, for the second fight of his PBC deal. Therefore, if Jose Benavidez Jr. defeats him on November 25, then David Benavidez’s case for claiming the next fight with Alvarez will become much stronger.
