Ocon & Leclerc Offer Contrasting Takes on Verstappen-Hamilton F1 Battle

The title battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen has captured the attention of everyone around the world. They both have been battling each other since the start of the season and it’s hard to separate them. For their fellow drivers, it was quickly difficult to choose a winner.

Charles Leclerc and Esteban Ocon also gave their preferred winners. But they both were too split in their choices, with Leclerc going for Max and Ocon going for Lewis.

Feels like Max Verstappen will leave the field as the winner: Charles Leclerc

As reported by Motorsport-magazin.com, the Ferrari driver picked Verstappen as his eventual winner at the end. He stated that Verstappen and Red Bull have been quick all year but also mentioned that Hamilton has more experience.

“Feels like Max will leave the field as the winner. He was faster than Lewis in more races. But Lewis is extremely consistent and always on. It will be close.” said Leclerc.

But Esteban Ocon countered the Monegasque and picked Hamilton. Ocon’s choice to pick is not surprising, as the Frenchman is a Mercedes junior driver.

“Red Bull and Max were often faster, yes, but I believe that Mercedes and Lewis can turn it around,” said Ocon.

Kimi Raikkonen and George Russell also gave their picks on their driver’s championship favorites. While the Williams driver seemed to lean towards the Mercedes driver, Kimi hopes that the title will be decided on the track.

“Red Bull and Max are very fast. But I think the more recent experience will help Lewis,” said George. Kimi did not really pick a winner but gave the most practical answer to the question.

“Whoever has the most points. I just hope that it will be decided on the track, not by defects. It would be boring to already know!” said Raikkonen.

Hamilton is leading Verstappen by two points going into the Turkish Grand Prix. With just seven races to go in 2021, it looks like the winner will be decided in the last race of the season.
