Sebastian Vettel is moving to a different team for the upcoming season. Not only will he drive a new car, but he will also work with new personnel; new to him, that is. He will have his own team of mechanics and engineers that will work by his side.
The most important member of his clan will be his race engineer. They have become a cult figure among the fans through their conversations with the drivers. “The tires are gone, Bono,” Hamilton’s now-famous quip to his race engineer, Peter Bonnington.

So, who will be in charge of this important role for Sebastian Vettel? The person in question will probably be Tim Wright. The Briton is a long-serving member of the Silverstone-based outfit. Before Vettel, he was Sergio Perez’s trackside engineer for the last 6 years.
So what are his qualifications? Can he handle the demands of a 4-time world champion?
Tim completed a course on automotive engineering from Loughborough University in 2000. He started out his professional career as a performance engineer in F3000 and then swiftly moved to GP2. But he moved out of single-seat racing to join Toyota in 2008.

His F1 career, though, wasn’t done and dusted, as he accepted the Lotus’ offer in 2010 to join them on their return to the pinnacle of motorsports.
And when the team went under at the end of the 2012 season, Catheram, the outfit that completed a buyout of Lotus, promoted him as one of their race engineers.
There was no looking back for Tim as Force India offered him the opportunity to work as Sergio Perez’s race engineer in 2015.
He’s been cordially working alongside the Mexican in their journey to win multiple podiums. So, yes, he is experienced enough to work with Seb, should the team confirm him for the role.

So what happens with Riccardo Adami- Race engineer of Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari?
Like Tim Wright with Perez, Ricciardo Adami also served the last 6 years with Sebastian Vettel as his race engineer. And before their Ferrari spell, Adami was Vettel’s race engineer during his formative years at Toro Rosso. So, like his trainer Konstas and manager Betta, he is part of his close F1 circle.
But sadly for his fans, Adami won’t be switching to Aston Martin like them. He will stay on as Carlos Sainz’s race engineer. It will, therefore, be a complete change of scenery for Vettel.
