Chase Elliott admits defeat hours before the much-anticipated Chicago race

During an interview with MRN, Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott expressed his inner turmoil ahead of the race in Chicago. Jeff Gluck shared Elliott’s heartfelt statement on Twitter, which quickly gained traction among fans. Elliott confessed after the 50-minute practice, “I am not good, so just trying to figure it out. … I’m not even close enough to start complaining [about the car].” An enthusiastic supporter was quick to buckle him up.

They said, “About the active driver with the most road course wins who won 1st time at the Roval and Daytona road course? And has 4 top-5 in his last 5 starts? Right. Crap day. It happens.”

Carrying his practice run forward, Chase Elliott finished 26th in qualifying, 1.848 s behind the pole sitter, Denny Hamlin. Going by the practice, it does seem like Elliott has to sort out many issues before he is to be considered at par with his Toyota rivals, Denny Hamlin, Tyler Reddick, Christopher Bell, and Martin Truex Jr.

The 2020 Cup Series champion has long been regarded as one of the most talented drivers in the sport. However, his recent performances have fallen short of expectations. With the upcoming race at Chicago looming, fans eagerly awaited a strong showing from their beloved driver considering his previous performances on road courses.
