The Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns faced off in an intense Western Conference Finals matchup in 2021. The battle saw two of the most versatile athletes in the NBA pitted against each other. Suns’ guard Devin Booker took on the Clippers’ Paul George for a spot in the NBA Finals. Interestingly, a rift that was not created in this high-stakes matchup took place in a podcast recently.

George’s podcast, “Podcast P with Paul George” has been a smashing hit in the basketball community. The podcast features several NBA superstars discussing various aspects of their lives on and off the court. However, an interview with the Golden State Warriors guard, Klay Thompson on the podcast led to a bizarre rivalry between Devin Booker and George. Former All-Star Gilbert Arenas discussed this very beef on his podcast, mocking the former MVP frontrunner.

Paul George has had his share of rivalries in the past. Be it with The King, LeBron James or Damian Lillard, the 8x All-Star has been through some high-intense matchups. However, these rivalries have all been on the basketball court. His beef with Devin Booker is a completely different case.

When asked about his biggest trash talk moment, Klay Thompson recalled his infamous “four rings” incident involving Devin Booker on George’s podcast. However, a response from Booker to this statement featured a completely uncalled dig at Paul George. This led a bizarre rivalry, even confusing the former Washington Wizards guard, Gilbert Arenas.

When asked about how he would grade the Booker-George beef, Arenas replied, “Two Dollar Tree meat. That’s what that is.”

Arenas barely seemed to be bothered by the Booker-George beef. However, George’s claim later on, in a livestream, caught Arenas’ attention. He mocked the 8x All-Star for his questionable statements.

Paul George seems to have taken Booker’s response personally. The 33-year-old forward issued an uncanny statement in a gaming livestream after his podcast episode released. “I’m on some bully s**t. Hey chat, mark my words I’m on my bully s**t next season,” said the Clippers star. However, Arenas did not seem to like his statements, brutally roasting George.

Oh, there’s a new Call of Duty coming out,” said the 41-year-old, mocking the Clippers star. However, Arenas acknowledged George’s credibility in the upcoming season, saying, “There’s a misconception with Paul George. I don’t think we realise how handicapped his summers were…..you’re taking shoulder surgery, you’re not actually working on your game….he’s went into summers where he didn’t actually have, he didn’t get to work out….this might be his first healthy summer. Where he get to actually tap into you know, getting better.

Arenas also remarked that for the most part, “him and Kawhi…you’re spending your summer rehabbing versus getting better so he might be on some different shit.

Gilbert Arenas may have mocked George for his comments but he did state that George could be a different player in the upcoming season. After being sidelined due to injury in the playoffs, George would look to bounce-back this season to prove he’s still not lost a step. With the Clippers looking for a championship push, George’s comeback season could not come at a better time. However, it will be interesting to see what PG13 does when he’s matched up against Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns.
