The Boston CelticsTD Garden glory comes to an end. The defending champions Denver Nuggets, spearheaded by Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, put an end to the unbeaten home 20-0 record on Friday night. The duo put together 69 points to silence an offense led by Jayson Tatum. Moreover, this game didn’t have a winner until the final buzzer, as the Celtics and their fans were behind Tatum when he went for the shot to tie the game.

Unfortunately, the 25-year-old, who had a poor game shooting the ball with 9-24, missed the shot that mattered the most. Let’s take a closer look at the intense Friday night battle between the reigning champions and the in-form Celtics.

The Celtics are the most successful team in this season with a 32-9 record, along with a 20-0 clean home run. But the Nuggets didn’t seem bothered by the home crowd cheers at the TD Garden, as they silenced them with a nail-biting game.

The Celts, as usual, had an all-round performance from their starting line-up. Derrick White led the offense with 24 points supported by Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis with 22 and 21 points, respectively. Meanwhile, it was only a two-man show, with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray dropping 34 and 35, respectively. Apart from them, only one person scored in double digits.

Murray and the reigning Finals MVP continued to give a strong response to the Celtics’ offense with counter buckets without any delay.

Moreover, the gasps and the sighs of relief following the game may have projected the possible NBA Finals teaser, as suggested by The Athletic’s Jared Weiss.

Disappointments mounted for the 25-year-old Jayson Tatum because this isn’t the first tragedy that he has faced. Despite having a championship worthy, he could only carry his team closer to the ring, but couldn’t lay his hands on them.

In the last two seasons, the Celtics have faced three heartbreaks, losing the 2022 Finals against the Golden State Warriors, the 2023 Conference Finals against the Miami Heat, and the In-season Tournament quarter-final loss against the Indiana Pacers. Tonight, the team gave away the 20-0 clean home run to the defending champs.
