The Los Angeles Lakers certainly did not have a good pre-season this time. They ended with a 1-5 record ahead of the new campaign. The Lakers tried various starting rotations, experimenting with different lineups to see what is the best for the team. However, that did not go as planned as they got blown out in multiple games during the pre-season. 

And as for an opening night, it was the Los Angeles Lakers vs the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors. The purple and gold had all three of its big names in the starting lineup, and so did the Golden State Warriors. 

The Los Angeles Lakers are not off to a good start

But in the end, it was the Golden State Warriors that came out on top with a final score of 123-109. The Lakers were off to a great start for the first half of the game. It was at the start of the second half that they struggled and just couldn’t keep up.

Laker fans are used to being their team as the Lake-show on a consistent basis. And if the team ends up underperforming, their fans are quick to voice their disappointment with the players or the front office.

“Stop Lying!!”: LeBron James’ Comments After Embarrassing Pre-Season Loss to the Kings Infuriates Lakers Fans

And that seems to be the case this time too. Even though it was just the opening night game, the poor start to the pre-season is what has Lakers fans disgruntled. Despite the poor showing, Los Angeles Lakers Vice-President Rob Pelinka will reportedly be waiting for 20 games, or post-Thanksgiving, to make any roster changes. 

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski said, “I’m told to expect Rob Pelinka and the Lakers to wait until post-Thanksgiving, 20 games into the season, and see what teams may start pivoting, who don’t start off well.” And as soon as the news broke, Lakers fans did not hold back in voicing their concerns for the team. One fan said, “By then we’ll be out of the playoffs.”

Fans seemed to voice their frustration with the front office, especially after last season’s results saw the 18-time NBA champions fail to qualify for the play-in tournament.

‘Big Three’ was not enough to put away the Warriors

All three of the Lakers’ big stars arguably had a good game against the Warriors. LeBron James ended the night with 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 assists. Anthony Davis had 27 points and 6 rebounds, and Russell Westbrook had 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists for the game.

But clearly, that wasn’t enough to get the upper hand against the Golden State Warriors this time.
