LeBron James Badmouths His Own Team in “Completely Honest” Admission on Lakers After Warriors Drubbing

The LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers did not start the 2022-23 season as they would have liked to. The Lakers fell short during the season opener on October 18 as the Golden State Warriors won the game 123-109. James did the bulk of the scoring for the Lakers, but it was not enough to win the game despite added support from Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. Recently, LeBron James made a completely honest admission about the situation of the Lakers roster after being drubbed by Stephen Curry’s Warriors.
The Los Angeles Lakers star recently revealed one of the most crucial drawbacks that the team’s roster has. James shared that the lack of shooting options on the Lakers team is a major concern. The Lakers were behind the Warriors for the most part of the game and were left with a big deficit during the final few moments of the fourth quarter. James scored 31 points with 14 rebounds and 8 assists.

Meanwhile, Anthony Davis supported LeBron with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Russell Westbrook also contributed to the team’s scoring with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists. In addition, Kendrick Nunn chipped in 13 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. However, it was not enough to defeat the defending champions with great players like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Jordan Poole dominating the floor.
LeBron James concerned about Lakers’ shooting options
LeBron James gave an honest opinion about the lack of shooting options on the Lakers roster during the post-game conference. The four-time NBA champ suggested, “To be completely honest, we’re not a team constructed of great shooting… It’s not like we’re sitting here with a lot of lasers on our team.”

It seemed like James was criticizing his own team, but his words appear quite true. Looking at the Lakers roster, the team is still lacking a specialist three-point shooting option like Stephen Curry. Nevertheless, admitting your own flaws is a major step towards improvement. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what changes the LA team introduces in its shooting department.

James would hope that the youngsters on the team could step in and contribute a bit more in the future. James, Davis, Westbrook, and Nunn scored a total of 90 points together. Meanwhile, the remaining Lakers players could only contribute 19 points, leaving the team behind by a big margin of 14 points against the Golden State Warriors.
