The Los Angeles Lakers performed the ultimate choke job against the Golden State Warriors on Monday night. It wasn’t only the loss that frustrated them, but also the manner in which they lost.

Going into the 4th quarter, the Lakers had an 11-point lead. But they fell apart like a pack of cards in the dire seconds of the game to lose 115-113. Anthony Davis acknowledged their uninspired showing and said, “We know we’re a good team. We know that teams are going to come out and play their best against us. But the way we lost, we don’t like.”

The star power forward was himself an accurate reflection of his comments. He scored just 17 points with an inefficient 6 of 16 shots from the field. And his partner-in-crime LeBron James also posted a similar stat sheet with 19 points on 6 of 16 shooting.

But the Lakers still have a league-leading 11-4 record, having never lost back-to-back this season. They have been able to pick themselves up after a loss. So Davis expects his teammates to continue the trend and get back to winning ways against the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Obviously, we have to look back at the film and see where we can be better, but we’ve always bounced back. We don’t like losing two in a row, so in our next game, we’re going to put a lot of pressure on ourselves to win that game… But we’ll watch the film when we get back together and try to figure out how to get better and get ready for Milwaukee,” said AD.

Los Angeles Lakers daunting 7-game road trip

The game against the Bucks will kick-start a 12 day-long trip through the Eastern Conference. In these 7 matches, the Lakers will also face the Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks, and the Boston Celtics. So it will be a true test of their mettle after playing in the comfort of home for some time.

Beating most of these potential finalists will go a long way in convincing fans of the Lakers’ ability to give a repeat, else they will face a lot of criticism back home. But we all know, LeBron and Co. don’t go down so easily.
