The World Athletics Championships 2023 are underway, with various top athletes fighting for the gold medal. One of the biggest wins the fans witnessed was when Sha’Carri Richardson won the gold medal in the 100-meter women’s race. Right now, they have another reason to celebrate. Laulauga Tausaga-Collins won the discus throw event at the World Athletics Championships. Numerous athletes congratulated her after her gold medal triumph, but none were as effusive as Megan Rapinoe, who lauded her performance. 

The USWNT soccer player, going through tough times recently, acknowledged the achievement of Laulauga. She liked an Instagram post of Togethxr, a company run by her partner, Sue Bird. It became a historic achievement for Tausaga-Collins, becoming the first US woman to win the discus title.

They created the platform to share inspiring stories of women who strived hard to be successful in life. The company breaks barriers in bringing culture shapers and promotes women for their accomplishments.

With her final throw attempt, Laulauga managed a 69.49-meter throw, giving her the advantage in the final round. She sling-shotted herself to the top from 12th and created history. After the victory, she spoke to the media in excitement. In an interview, she stated, “I don’t know if I have a fairy godmother or something, or my ancestors had some say in it, but I was able to do something tonight that I didn’t think was possible yet.”

She continued, “I was confident if I was on my A game I could sneak through into a medal place and not be 12th like I was in the last two world championships.” It became a day to remember, and Megan Rapinoe quickly acknowledged her character and performance.
