When former UFC heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou was pitted against WBC champ Tyson Fury in a boxing bout, the world was excited to see the two monsters collide. However, there were also a lot of doubts and apprehensions regarding whether Ngannou would be able to hold his own against Fury in a boxing bout.

The bout took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and it was one of the most surprising fights that fans of both sports have seen in a while. Ngannou, although out of his element, put up a great fight, but in the end, Fury was given the decision. Now, UFC commentator Daniel Cormier and former Super Bowl star Ryan Clark were seen discussing the fight and how Ngannou fared against the WBC champ.

When Ngannou was about to fight Fury, fans expected a similar outcome. However, the Cameroonian giant shocked the world as he gave Tyson Fury the fight of his life. He even knocked him down at a point in the fight. But in the end, Fury was given the decision. A lot of people criticized this decision, and among them was, Ryan Clark.

I do believe that what Francis Ngannou was able to accomplish, is far bigger than what Conor McGregor was able to accomplish. Now, it won’t be seen like that stateside, right? Because Tyson Fury is not Floyd Mayweather. Neither is Francis Ngannou Conor McGregor from a popularity standpoint – from a charisma standpoint. From the way that they’ve captivated the world – not only with their skill but with who they were.”, said Clark to Daniel Cormier in an interview on the ESPN MMA YouTube channel.

Another fight that the world was looking forward to was a fight between UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. The fight was billed for UFC 295, and the world was getting ready to see two legendary fighters battle it out in the UFC Octagon. However, the fight fell through when Jones had to back out of the fight owing to an injury suffered during sparring.

Ngannou decided it was a good time to throw his name in the hat and said that he would be happy to take on Miocic and serve as a replacement. However, there might be a hiccup there since Ngannou left the UFC to go fight for the PFL.
