Former UFC light heavyweight fighter, Chael Sonnen shared his two cents on Dana White launching his new Power Slap League. Recently, the idea has been facing a lot of backlash due to the uniqueness of the sport. Although superstars such as Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz have been expressing their interest in appearing for the promotion, the idea has been ridiculed on social media. It looks like the involvement of big names too can’t convince combat fans.

Chael Sonnen dived in deep to explain the reasons why the new Power Slap League has yet to win him over. While it has one of the most famous promoters in the current era, it is not receiving the support which backs the status of the UFC president.

Moreover, the promotion will debut in the first quarter of 2023. It is unclear whether the new promotion will be able to win the fans and doubters over with its first event.

Chael Sonnen believes that the Power Slap League lacks the skill

The UFC legend knows a thing or two about the business. He believes that when a fighter works hard to develop a skill to hit, it’s more entertaining.

“I cannot believe that you have a skill on the other side of it of doing the hitting,” he further added.

Dana White is extremely excited about his new venture. However, a while ago, he called soccer a ‘talentless’ sport. With Sonnen believing slapping or getting slapped by an opponent requires no skill, it would be interesting to see what the UFC boss has to say to Sonnen.

Do you know how untalented you have to be to score three points when the net is this big.” Moreover, since there is such a big net to target, in his opinion it gets quite easy to score a goal. Thus, the result can end with ‘3-1’ scoreline.
