UFC welterweight and BMF star Jorge Masvidal‘s capacities as a fighter need no introduction to MMA fans. The 38-year-old has had one of the, if not the most entertaining careers in the history of the sport. Making his name as a backyard brawler, ‘Gamebred’ eventually evolved into a prolific striker with wins over some of the biggest names in the industry.
Talking about his career, UFC commentator Joe Rogan heaped praise on the veteran in the latest episode of the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’. In doing so, he also sent out a warning to the welterweight division and its champ Leon Edwards, who is coming off a fresh title defense against Kamaru Usman at UFC 286.

The 55-year-old expert analyst then brought up the sensational knockouts of Ben Askren and Darren Till as an example of the Miami local’s prowess as a fighter.
“When you think about Masvidal when he knocked out Ben Askren. Masvidal knocked out Darren Till. Masvidal’s a scary guy.” stated Rogan.
And ‘Gamebred’ is indeed a scary guy. His jumping knee KO of Askren, which went down in the history books as the fastest finish in the UFC, is still talked about by MMA fans every once in a while. But for Rogan, it was the 38-year-old’s finish of Englishman Darren Till that appeared to have left a strong impression on him.
Branding it as a brutal way to finish his opponent, Rogan remarked how amazed he was at the finish.
“His knockout of Darren Till was brutal. F***g brutal. He’s knocked out a lot of really good guys, man.”
For Masvidal, this win over ‘The Gorilla’ almost served as a second coming of age for him in the sport. Following this fight, he went on to beat Askren and Nate Diaz, sealing himself as a legit star of the promotion.
Masvidal set to return at UFC 287 against Gilbert Burns
Although he went on to lose all three of his next bouts, ‘Gamebred’ now has yet another opportunity to make a turnaround. The 38-year-old will now square up against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287, which is going down in his hometown of Miami.
Making his return after over a year of inactivity, ‘Gamebred’ will be looking to shut down his doubters as he faces Burns in the co-main event of UFC 287. While the Brazilian is indeed a tough challenge; Masvidal definitely recognizes the opportunities that could open up with a win here.

The fact that the bout will take place in front of his home crowd also serves as a motivation for the veteran. And who knows what the stars have in store for the 38-year-old? Maybe a win here could open up another pathway to a title fight against his old rival, Leon Edwards.
