BMF champion Justin Gaethje is known for putting up some of the most exciting performances the fans have ever seen. He’s had his wins and losses, but recently he made a shocking revelation that left many stunned. ‘The Highlight’ claimed to have been concussed as he headed into the fight with Charles Oliveira at UFC 274. This comes to light when in a similar turn of events, ex-UFC star Ronda Rousey opened up about her own struggles with concussion.

After the release of her book ‘Our Fight‘, Ronda Rousey revealed that she had been battling concussions for a long time, more specifically, since her judo days. She even claimed that her concussion issues were the reason why she lost to Holly Holm at UFC 193. It seems like concussions are prevalent in the lives of many UFC fighters, including Justin Gaethje.

During a recent appearance on the ‘Pound 4 Pound with Kamaru and Henry‘, Justin Gaethje claimed that he went into the fight against Charles Oliveira with a concussion, which he got from a bicycle accident a couple of weeks before the matchup. He said, “18 days before [the fight against Oliveira] I got a concussion riding a bike.”

He also mentioned earlier that Charles Oliveira was the hardest puncher he’s ever fought. But the concussion came into play and that added to the impact of Do Bronx’s punches. “I say he was the hardest guy to ever punch me, but that was a factor, and you know, he doesn’t need to know. It was a bicycle, whooped my f***ing ass,” Gaethje added. Nevertheless, he’s healthy and working hard as he looks to maintain his winning momentum with a win at UFC 300.

‘The Highlight’ will welcome Max Hollway back to the lightweight division

Max Holloway has a point to prove as a lightweight. His previous stint as a 155-pounder did not turn out in his favor as he lost to Dustin Poirier. But now, he’s gearing up to battle Justin Gaethje for the BMF title, which will be up for grabs for the first time in the history of the UFC because Dana White did not like the idea of a BMF title defense a few years ago.

There is a chance that Justin Gaethje could fight for the lightweight title. Yet, he doesn’t want to fight so soon, given that he needs time to recover and prepare for Islam Makhachev. It remains to be seen how things pan out for ‘The Highlight’ this weekend at the historic PPV event in Las Vegas.
