The WWE’s first PPV of 2023 is almost here and the WWE Universe has begun speculating the identity of the winner of the Men’s Royal Rumble match. The reward for the winner of the flagship contest will be a bout against the WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 39. A chance to potentially fight current titleholder Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania is lucrative, but for that to happen, one man must outlast 29 other superstars.

Although reports are in favor of Sami Zayn and Dwayne Johnson, many believe a returning superstar will have his arms raised at the end of the Battle Royal bout at the Alamodome on January 28, 2023.

There have been rumors that WWE creatives have discussed bringing The Rock back, as they like the idea of a clash between real-life cousins. However, the speculations of Dwayne Johnson making an appearance at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’ are still not confirmed. Johnson has quite a lot of projects on his hand currently, and the fans are eagerly waiting for ‘The Brahma Bull’s comments on the matter.

If The Rock fails to show up, Cody Rhodes is in the driver’s seat to make a triumphant return to WWE. ‘The American Nightmare’ has been on the sidelines ever since his match against Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell 2022.

Despite suffering a pectoral muscle tear and aggravating the injury during weight training, Rhodes took to the ring to perform for the WWE Universe. After defeating ‘The Visionary’, he underwent a successful surgery that required him to spend time away from the squared circle.

On the December 26 episode of Raw, Cody Rhodes made an appearance and talked about his rematch with Rollins. However, he seemed more focused on the WWE Championship. Given the timing of the virtual return, he could make a triumphant in-ring comeback at the 2023 Royal Rumble and earn the right to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.
