Lightweight prodigy Devin Haney became the undisputed champion in his decision after showcasing a stellar performance against George Kambosos Jr. Moreover, Haney won the respect of boxing fans with a genuine display of his technical prowess.

Haney faced Kambosos at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on June 5, 2022. In victory, he retained his WBC lightweight title. Meanwhile, he also won the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles, being the undisputed champion in the lightweight division.

However, the bout evoked many reactions from fellow boxers and boxing fans alike.

Multiple professional boxers let their thoughts be known during the Devin Haney vs George Kambosos fight.

During the initial rounds, Errol Spence Jr. mentioned that he hopes that Haney finds a way to turn the fight around.

Meanwhile, former interim WBC lightweight Joseph Diaz was sure to reveal his thoughts about Kambosos’ fighting skills.

Similarly, former WBC interim titleholder Ryan Garcia did not mince words while revealing his thoughts on the fight. In fact, he even asked fellow contender Gervonta Davis to not let their potential fight end up like that.

However, Davis was quick to silence Garcia about the scenario.

 

YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul expressed his excitement about the fight. In fact, ‘The Problem Child‘ was all praise for Haney’s technical prowess. Moreover, he also subtly trolled Kambosos’s previous opponent, Teofimo Lopez.

And then there was a glorious finish

Both were all praise for Haney’s outstanding performance against Kambosos.

Former world champion Badou Jack congratulated Haney on his win.

Similarly, Spence Jr. also felt Haney’s victory was well deserved.

In the same vein, Terence Crawford also took to social media to congratulate the new undisputed lightweight champion.

Two-time former welterweight world champion Andre Berto commended Haney for the shining win in Kambosos’s home country.

Meanwhile, Jake Paul also displayed the scorecard for the 12 rounds, showing that the victory was well deserved.

Garcia also congratulated Haney for his win. However, he felt the bout was bland and not very interesting.

Moreover, he also expressed his desire to fight Haney after his bout against Javier Fortuna.

On the contrary, former IBF super middleweight titleholder Caleb Plant felt that Kambosos lost on purpose. In fact, he even called it an ‘art of war’.

Boxing fans also had a few words for the new undisputed champion.

A user, @Fabe_Cob2, reminded the boxing community that Haney was the first undisputed champion in the lightweight division since Pernell Whitaker.

Similarly, a few other boxing fans also took to social media to congratulate the young champion.
