Sports documentaries are often a hit amongst the fanbase. While golf hasn’t been so fortunate yet, Netflix’s ‘Full Swing’ promises plenty in the domain. The riveting series will focus on some of the game’s most recognized players and relive their journey through last year. 2022 was one of the most controversial years in golf’s history due to the inception of the LIV Golf Series, which is expected to add some spice to the series. But what should we expect from each and every scene of the eight-episode show?

Netflix’s ‘Full Swing’ dissected

The series begins with an opening episode titled, ‘Frenemies’. It features golf’s most adorable pair, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth – from their childhood memories to fierce rivals on the PGA Tour.

But Thomas gained the upper hand in their friendly rivalry last year. The 29-year-old won his second major, the 2022 PGA Championship, which has been well-documented on the show. The episode also features Spieth’s victory at the 2022 RBC Heritage, which marked his only victory on the PGA Tour last year.

The second episode of the show predominantly features a LIV Golf defector. A 4-time major championship winner, Brooks Koepka went through a bad phase following injuries and a loss of form. The scene portrays his struggles heading to the Masters Tournament. It also features Scottie Scheffler, who enjoyed a breakthrough season last year.

English pro Ian Poulter makes it to the third episode of the show. The title, ‘Money or Legacy’, is perceptible enough to give an idea of the episode. While Joel Dahmen isn’t one of the PGA Tour’s shining lights, he grabs the opportunity to be a star on the show ahead of the coverage of the 2022 U.S. Open.

When do Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy appear on the show?

The fifth episode of the show is titled, ‘American Dreams’, which focuses on two of golf’s leading men. Dustin Johnson made headlines after switching to the LIV Golf Series last year and securing the individual championship in its inaugural season after a dominant performance. Meanwhile, Matt Fitzpatrick had the last laugh after following up the disappointment at the PGA Championship by winning the U.S. Open.

‘Don’t Get Bitter, Get Better’, is a famous quote from golf great Tiger Woods, who inspired a generation of golfers. Tony Finau and Collin Morikawa are among those who have emulated their hero by playing at the PGA Tour, while also rejecting any approaches from LIV Golf. The episode also features Finau’s back-to-back wins, at the 3M Open, and the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Titled, ‘Golf is Hard’, the seventh episode of the show features PGA Tour rookies Sahith Theegala and Mito Pereira. Both golfers experienced heartbreaks, at the WM Phoenix Open and the PGA Championship, respectively.

The last episode of the eight-part series is reserved for the man hailed as Woods’ heir to golf’s throne. The cameras pan to Rory McIlroy in his quest to win at the historic 150th Open Championship. It also documents McIlroy’s wins at the FedEx Cup and his views on the installment of the LIV Golf Series.
