Which Jupiter Players Did Tiger Woods Ignore as Arizonan Max Homa Finds a Place in 2025 TGL?

Three surprising names, and none from Jupiter Island, made their way to Tiger Woods’s TGL roster. Max Homa from Arizona, his close friend and fellow master-of-wit; Kevin Kisner from Aike; and Tom Kim from South Korea complete the four-man Jupiter Links Golf Club. For a league that emphasizes the connection between teams and the places they represent, it was a surprising choice.

There is no dearth of active players in Jupiter. Rather, one can argue that there is perhaps one too many. Jupiter Island, with its world-class golf courses and ideal weather, has become a hotbed of golfers across the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson are long-time residents of the area, joined recently by Phil Mickelson. There was no chance of them playing alongside Woods, but a number of PGA Tour pros were ignored in favor of the trio.

Who could’ve been part of Tiger Woods’s roster?
Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, and Rory McIlroy are the most notable names living in and around the area. Spieth does not appear on any team’s roster. Whereas Thomas, a close aide and the ‘younger brother’ of Woods, will play from Atlanta Drive Golf Club. Rickie Fowler, who lives on the same block as Thomas, joined the New York Golf Club.
As for McIlroy, who is also the co-founder of TMRWSports, he will head Boston Common Golf. It would have been a little jarring to see two co-founders of the league playing on the same team. Keegan Bradley, another Jupiter resident, will also call McIlroy his teammate. Morikawa has joined the Los Angeles Golf Club.

Jupiter also benefits from living under a lenient tax regime. In fact, Jack Nicklaus initiated the tradition of purchasing expansive properties there, and many have since followed in his footsteps. Tiger Woods’s team, although not having the ‘in-house’ players, looks to represent everything that Jupiter brings to mind.

Jupiter Links logo explained
The logo of the team is an ingenious blend of the palm tree and a golf ping flag. The logo with a red background is a nod to Woods’s favorite color. It also symbolizes the vibrant lifestyle and culture in and around the area. “The handwritten font is a nod to Tiger’s signature, and the palm branches breaking the red circle represent the rising sun on the horizon,” reads the official statement. The flagstick’s three components also represent three players in each match.

TGL focuses heavily on rooting the team into the area they represent. The frog in the Boston Common Golf logo, for example, is a nod to Frog Pond at Boston Common, the country’s first public park. The monochrome logo of Los Angeles Golf Club is a homage to the Getty and LACMA. Similarly, the New York Golf Club’s logo also has the Eastern Bluebird in the middle. TGL is scheduled to debut on ESPN Prime Time on January 14, 2025.
