While his recent run at UFC might have been a spectacle to watch, ‘The Highlight’ has not been able to build a strong winning streak.
Gaethje faces Rafael Fiziev at UFC 286. In this fight, the American will have an opportunity to prove his worth once again. Fiziev is a dangerous striker who has won his last six fights in the UFC. A win against him will surely put the 3rd ranked lightweight in the elite limelight.

Justin Gaethje demands a title shot
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Gaethje stated that he either wants to fight Dustin Poirier next or fight for the title. “I either fight Poirier next and if that’s not the case, I fight for the title”, ‘The Highlight’ said.

Gaethje won the interim lightweight title by defeating Tony Ferguson at UFC 249. Then, he was expected to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov for the undisputed title. However, the fight was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the American ended up losing to ‘The Eagle’ at UFC 254.
After defeating Michael Chandler at UFC 268, Gaethje got another title shot against Charles Oliveira at UFC 274. However, he lost that fight as well. Now, some fans feel that he needs to prove himself in the octagon before asking for another title shot.
