The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most popular franchises in the NBA. The Lakers are one of the league’s most important franchises with a worldwide fanbase of NBA fans. Lakers fans usually adore players that play their heart out for the franchise. Over the years, legends like Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, and other NBA greats have donned the franchise’s jersey.

In the offseason, the Lakers continued their policy of signing established NBA stars to complement the duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They signed Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, and other stars.

A few players also left in free agency. One of these was a fan favorite in Alex Caruso. He revealed his emotions about playing against his former team on Twitter. Caruso tweeted saying, “Lot of emotions stepping back under the lights of purple and gold tonight.. always grateful, forever connected“.

Caruso had initially joined the Lakers in 2017 after leaving the Oklahoma City Blue. He won the 2020 NBA championship with the franchise alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Caruso joined the Chicago Bulls as a free agent on August 10, 2021, signing a 4-year $37 million contract.

The Lakers have won 17 NBA championships with their first championship win coming way back in 1949. Their 2020 championship win saw them joining the Celtics for the most titles in NBA history. The current owner of the Lakers, the Buss family, began their ownership with Jerry Buss acquiring the franchise in 1979.

The Lakers fail to tame Alex Caruso’s Chicago Bulls

The Los Angeles Lakers fell to another disappointing loss against the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls cruised to a comfortable win as Alex Caruso returned to his former team’s home. A final score of 121-103 was enough for the Bulls to clinch their fourth win in five games. Lakers talisman LeBron James missed the game due to an abdominal strain.

DeMar DeRozan led the Bulls scoring with 38 points. Lonzo Ball scored 27 points against his former team while Zach LaVine added 26 points. Talen Horton-Tucker scored 28 points for the Lakers as Russell Westbrook scored 25 points. Anthony Davis scored 20 points and was ejected out of the game in the third quarter. The Lakers will hope to bounce back with a result against the Milwaukee Bucks next at an away game.
