The 2024 MLS season is closer than ever. Inter Miami is keen to put their best foot forward in the new campaign after they failed to make the grade in the pre-season matches so far. While the Herons look to turn things around, they have finally made a breakthrough in their off-pitch pursuits. Reports indicate that Lionel Messi and Co. have managed to pull off the deal for a Real Madrid legend’s son- Federico Redondo, for $8 million from Argentinos Juniors.

The 21-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation over the past few weeks. Inter Miami kept tabs on the defensive midfielder and left no stone unturned to lure the youngster to DRV PNK Stadium. International transfer specialist Michael Rincón has confirmed that the son of Fernando Redondo is set to pen a 4-year contract with the Florida-based club. The 7-figure offer did its trick, as Federico’s domestic side gladly accepted the offer. It might be surprising to know that the deal for the Argentine youngster wasn’t easy at all.

Clubs from Europe, including Real Madrid, AC Milan, Liverpool, and Manchester United, were also interested in acquiring the services of Federico. Likewise, Tata Martino’s mind was made up for the signature of the holding midfielder after they suffered a blow in the pursuit of Cristian Medina from Boca Juniors and Agustin Palavecino from River Plate. Additionally, the stunning numbers of Federico also catalyzed his transfer to Fort Lauderdale.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
