Survivor Series is not the biggest PLE of the WWE. Yet the surrounding hype seems to be even more for WrestleMania itself. The hype is arguably warranted, with two main factors emerging as the talking points. One was the announced return of ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton and the other prospect lies around the probable comeback of CM Punk to the WWE.

With so much excitement in store for the fans, here are 3 things that might happen at the Survivor Series post-show press conference.

1. Randy Orton returning and facing the media after 18 months

The last time we saw Randy Orton in the ring was in May 2022 on SmackDown. In his last match, Orton and Matt Riddle aka RK-Bro lost their Raw Tag Team Championships to The Usos after interference by Roman Reigns. Then, after a few days, news surfaced that The Viper had suffered a huge back injury and would be out of action for a very long time. Due to the severity of the injury, Orton had to undergo a lower back fusion surgery. He underwent the surgery almost 1 year ago in November 2022.

And now, after a full recovery, he will finally return to the ring at Survivor Series. After the WarGames match, which fans are eagerly hoping that Randy and Co. win, the 14-time world champion will definitely be present at the post-event press conference to answer questions about his absence and future plans. This might also be the right time for The Apex Predator to announce his next target in the WWE. Fans are hoping that Orton goes straight for ‘The Head Of The Table’ Roman Reigns, which might lead to a title match at WrestleMania 40. But with Cody Rhodes looking to finish his story, maybe this might become a triple-threat title match. Only time will tell.

2. A returning CM Punk in front of a press conference

Oh how the WWE universe would want this 2nd prediction to be a reality. It’s been almost 3 months since CM Punk was fired by Tony Khan from AEW following a backstage brawl. Post that speculations have been running rife that CM Punk will be joining the WWE and make his return at Survivor Series on Saturday.

This seems more like a probability as Survivor Series takes place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois. The Chicago native also made a subtle hint that he might return on Saturday by sharing his workout session details with the WarGames theme song “War Pigs”. That or he might just be teasing fans for fun. But if this teasing turns to reality, fans are hoping for Punk to use the post-event press conference to break his silence about his firing from AEW. Punk might also discuss his future plans in the WWE and thank his fans for their endless support. We will only have to wait and watch how it could play out.

3. Triple H justifying why CM Punk did not return

In the event that CM Punk’s dream return to the WWE doesn’t happen at Survivor Series, pro wrestling fans will definitely be dejected. At the same time, Triple H will try his best to steer clear of any conversations relating to CM Punk at the press conference. But the reporters, just like the fans, will be wanting answers. And that might lead to Triple H finally breaking his silence and giving fans the real reason why CM Punk was not present at Survivor Series.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter also confirmed that WWE’s creative team has not been informed of anything related to Punk’s return. So was all this hype just a fan-created fantasy or are we going to witness the return of the Second City Saint to the WWE tomorrow? We will only have to tune into Survivor Series WarGames to see if the WWE is going to give its fans an early Christmas gift. But what do you think will happen at the post-show press conference of Survivor Series?

One take at a time

I still vividly remember the time when WWE VHS's used to be played on cable movie channels every Sunday(early 90s in India). And that's where my love for the WWE began. My love and passion for pro wrestling only grew over the years in the form of a mini collection of cards, stickers, tees, action figures and even a WWE Championship belt signed by the 'Big Red Machine' Kane himself (talk about getting lucky).
