The Los Angeles Lakers opened their regular season account against the defending champs, the Golden State Warriors. But they just didn’t have enough as LeBron James and co. got blown out 123-109 by the Warriors. And the NBA world mocked the Lakers for losing their opening game.

The Lakers came into the season with a lot of doubt. They had their core intact and added a lot of different role players to their squad. But the core problems of last season still persisted. The pre-season showed that the Lakers just did not have enough shooting. And it became evident in the season opener as the Lakers went 10-40 from three-point range.

The Warriors trounce the Lakers on ring day

Despite all the drama surrounding the Draymond Green-Jordan Poole saga, the Golden State Warriors put on a clinic as they marked ring day with a win. The Warriors continued the trend of being a third-quarter team, as they blew the game wide open after the first half.

The Warriors were rusty in the first half as they struggled to take their chances. They missed several three-point shots and were careless with the ball. But the Lakers could not take their chances and the Warriors shut the door on them in the third quarter.

Stephen Curry led in scoring as he dropped in 33 points while Andrew Wiggins dropped 20. For the Los Angeles Lakers, it was ‘The Big 3’ who did the majority of the scoring as they combined for 77 points. LeBron James added 31 points along with 14 rebounds and 8 assists.

Anthony Davis showed glimpses as he chimed in with 27 points, while Russell Westbrook added 19 points and 11 rebounds. The Warriors will take on the Denver Nuggets next, while the Lakers head back home to take on the Los Angeles Clippers.
