Last night’s Payback was full of surprises. Jey Uso returned to the WWE while being drafted to RAW and John Cena was the special guest referee for The Miz and LA Knight’s match. But in the middle of all this Finn Balor’s massive achievement went under the radar. Balor achieved a feat that very few wrestlers have been able to accomplish in all of WWE’s history.

He did so with the help of his teammate ‘Dirty’ Dom who as always used his cheap tricks to secure a win for The Judgment Day.

For people who are not aware, The Grand Slam is an accomplishment recognized by the WWE if a wrestler wins four specific championships or all of the titles in the promotion. The four titles initially included the WWE, Intercontinental, United States, and WWE Tag Team Championships. Later the Universal Championship was also added to this list as it was on the level of a WWE Championship.

‘HBK’ Shawn Michaels was the first ever Grand Slam champion in the WWE. Other legends who have had the honor to be added to this elite list include Kane, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, Booker T, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Roman Reigns, Edge, and Rey Mysterio to name a few.

A total of 23 superstars have been Grand Slam champions in all of WWE’s history. The newest addition to this list was Finn Balor after he and Damian Priest won the Undisputed Tag Team Championships by defeating Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in a Street Fight at Payback. That obviously was after some interference by ‘Dirty’ Dom which aided their eventual victory.

Balor has earlier won the United States, Intercontinental, and Universal Championships during his 8-year career in the WWE.

Even though Priest was victorious last night, he is still far away from becoming a Grand Slam champion like his teammate Balor. Although the MITB briefcase might just get him closer to that goal. We will just have to wait and watch to see how all of this unfolds. But while we take a look at the Grand Slam Champions list, one GOAT superstar is definitely missing from there.

John Cena is yet to be a Grand Slam champion

In his illustrious career spanning over 20+ years, Cena has won multiple championships and is the current joint record holder with Ric Flair for most World championship wins with a total of 16 wins. But in spite of holding one of the most prestigious records in the WWE, Cena is yet to become a Grand Slam champion.

In his career, Cena has managed to win the WWE World, United States, and Tag Team championships. But he is yet to lay his hands on the Intercontinental title which is preventing his name from appearing in that elite list. Only time will tell if Cena will ever win the Intercontinental championship.
